Hello
:)
Oriental Dreams
was a design for 2007 and at this time I am still working on
finishing the last of the blocks for the border and then working on
quilting the whole quilt :)
Once this has been done I will upload a photo
to go on this page. This is a design that can be done either by
sewing machine or by hand :) for my part I did mine all by hand and
thus it is taking me longer than I planed :)
If you would

.
The files are as follow and these are just the larger
picture of the blocks. for more on the files you find
that bellow.
Thank you for sharing in my vision with me on
this quilt and I look forward to working on a new design for next
year :) so for now Have fun and I will chat with you
again with 2008's new designs :) To jump to the files follow this link Hugs Dawsie :)
Just a little of what I learned while working on the
designing phase of the quilt :)
I found that Oriental/Asian weddings are not white
like Western Weddings but are Red and/or Yellow. The
colour white is kept for times of funerals.
The Fabrics used in the picture are from the Hoffman
collection "Bali Hand paints Designed by
Hoffman" I have found that using hand painted or
dyed fabrics they are perfect for flowers and trees and
everything in between :)
For the Cherry Blossom you will need to look for 2
kinds of hand dyed fabric. 1st one should be a mixture
of white to pale pink for the blossom petals,
sometimes you will find one that had streaks of darker
pink as long as they are thin lines in the over all
fabric that will be fine.
For the 2nd fabric this should be a medium pink to
dark pink for the centers of the blossoms, again dark
streaks are fine as long as they are thin. This will
work for you in giving the cherry blossom a natural
look.
I have only the 2 types of pink as described above for
all of the cherry blossom in the quilt. By using a hand
dyed fabric you will get a good random affect for the
petals and blossom centers without the need to fussy
cutting them out.
All of the yardage's have been worked out using a
1/4 inch seam allowance for all of the appliqué
pieces. If you do appliqué using the blanket
stitch method you will find that you will not use as
much fabric.
This is a quilt that is great for the scrap bins and
bags that you might have stashed away in the corner :)
Now if you are like me you will have a very large scrap
stash just for these type of quilts :) and you will
only need to buy the main background fabrics :) if not
here is your chance to add to your scrap stash :)
I look for ward to seeing you next month :) so for now
have fun and enjoy the short break :)
Hugs Dawsie :)

Make sure when you are printing out the files that you
have the print options for "page

If you want to make the blocks/quilt in a larger or
smaller size then you can use the re-sizing page.
If the size you are after is not on the chart then you
can use the formula that is found there to calculate it
to the size of your choice.
Remember if you do change the size this will
change how much fabric that you will be using.
